Maidreamin
After playing with lots of cute kitties at the Nekobukuro (a cat cafe where pet-less Japanese folk can fill the void of not being able to have cats in their home) in the Ikebukuro district, we came across a girl dressed up in a french maid outfit handing out flyers on the street. The flyers were for a maid cafe! A FREAKING MAID COSPLAY CAFE! The legends were true! We just had to check this out!
The maid, who only spoke in Japanese took us to a nearby super narrow building and up a sketchy elevator. When we got to the fifth floor, we entered this world that was just so unreal and amazing! There were no windows so that no one had any concept of time or the city life outside. There were disco balls, a little stage and each table had large stuffed animals that you can sit with while you eat. Cute waitresses in maid outfits who sang rhymes in Japanese, posed for polaroids and mixed your pasta for you (while singing more rhymes in Japanese). As if the cat cafe wasn’t incredible enough, this maid cafe was possibly the best and most bizarre experience of our Tokyo trip so far.
